Retail Site Assessment

Buxton Retail Site Assessment

The Buxton Retail Site Assessment is a study conducted by Buxton, the industry leader in customer analytics, to help Sterling better understand its potential for retail development and revitalization.

The Assessment focused on:

  1. Identifying primary and secondary trade areas for Sterling. The goal was to identify areas from which consumers are likely to come to Sterling to make retail purchases.

  2. Identifying a profile of customers within the primary and secondary trade areas, with emphasis on buying habits and lifestyles.

  3. Identifying the surplus and leakage for various types of retail stores for each trade area.  A surplus exists when Sterling retail sales already exceed the anticipated demand for a particular type of retail outlet.  A leakage exists when Sterling retail sales fall below the anticipated demand for a particular type of retail outlet.

The assessment offers a valuable tool for existing and potential retailers by identifying the purchasing habits of Sterling’s trade areas and by identifying the retail categories in which Sterling is presently underserved.
